Head of School's Message

Dear FAA Community,

In February, the red and pink colors remind us of kindness and love, which invites me to link kindness and discipline as both elements that help us to become resilient and well-rounded individuals. While kindness lays the foundation for a nurturing and supportive environment, discipline serves as the guiding hand that shapes a child's character. Setting up clear boundaries and precise expectations create a secure space where children feel loved and can grow. I hope you’ll take the time to read our blog’s tips providing an essential framework for a child to flourish and thrive.

To explore this theme of empathy and friendship (and many others themes) our students enjoyed the Annual FAA Book Fair. A big and warm thank you to our PTOs and many volunteers who contributed to these successful events enhancing a joy for reading!

Warm regards,

Anne-Sophie Gueguen

The Power of Discipline in Children

Some people are born with self-discipline, just like some of us are innately skilled at sports, math, debate, or language. Fortunately for the rest of us, discipline is also a muscle that can be developed and strengthened with time and practice. At the FAA we use the Responsive Classroom approach to build a sense of discipline, but many of its tenets can be applied at home too. Our blog has tips for instilling discipline from a young age.

Sustainable Development

"Ma Petite Planète" Eco-Challenge is Back

The "Ma Petite Planète" eco-challenge is back for its second week after a successful run last November. Each eco-challenge has a direct connection to the 17 UN goals. For example, the challenge to walk or bike to school is tied to goal 3 (good health and well-being). The challenges are adapted for students' ages, with older students being called upon to make more responsible choices for themselves. Students are awarded "points" for each completed challenge. The eco-challenges demonstrate that even small actions can make a significant difference in creating a better and healthier planet for everyone.
