Head of School's Message

Dear FAA Community,

This month, we are thrilled to introduce a new section: Alumni Spotlight.
Our Alumni Spotlight will feature individuals who once walked the halls of the FAA and have since embarked on new journeys, high school or college. In the Alumni Spotlight, you'll delve into the stories of former students and witness how their bilingual education at the FAA continues to shape their paths and perspectives.

As the Spring blooms around us, we invite you to explore our latest blog post, which emphasizes the invaluable role of outdoor free play in fostering learning and development across all ages.

Lastly, as we approach the upcoming Parent-Teacher Conferences, I'd like to recognize this invaluable opportunity for collaborative dialogue about your child's progress, strengths, and areas for growth. The imagery of a triangle uniting parents, teachers, and administration underscores the fundamental partnership at the heart of the FAA community.

Warm regards,

Anne-Sophie Gueguen

Bilingual Holocaust Study Takes Students to The Museum of Jewish Heritage

The 8th graders visited The Museum of Jewish Heritage today as part of a Bilingual Holocaust Study. They had a guided tour through the exhibition: The Holocaust: What Hate Can Do. Students were also privileged to hear testimony and have a chance to experience an interview with a Holocaust survivor. This powerful experience is the kind that cannot be learned in a textbook.

Middle School

Les Olympiades de mathématiques

The 8th graders participated in Les Olympiades de mathématiques, a national academic competition organized by the Ministry of National Education. The competition provides a unique approach to solving mathematical problems and helps to demonstrate the connections between mathematics and other scientific disciplines.

Meet Bénédicte, Our Preschool Teacher

Bénédicte Berger is a versatile seasoned pro teacher, teaching all ages both in France and in the US: first in California, then at our Jersey City campus, and most recently at our Hoboken campus. She is also a beloved colleague with creativity, boundless patience, and an infectious smile. I asked our “Béné” three questions for the March teacher spotlight.

Parenting Tips

A Breath of Fresh Air

Parents often ask us what they can do to help their children learn and grow. There are many good answers, but this month we are focusing on an often overlooked strategy that boosts cognitive development and focus, increases knowledge, promotes good health, and can be cheap or free.

Sustainable Development

Visit From Nicolas Louisot, a Trainer and Expert for Sustainable Development Education in North America

Nicolas Louisot, a trainer and expert for Sustainable Development Education in North America on behalf of the AEFE, spent two days in our schools to strengthen our reflections and actions in link with the 17 United Nations Goals (SDGs). Nicolas and Thibaut Bastide, our JC Sustainable Development Coordinator, shared resources and projects with our faculty to connect SDGs into our curriculum and daily practices.
The discussions included many topics from children's literature to outdoor classrooms but also paper consumption, gender equality and fight against hunger.

Additionally, Nicolas met the Jersey City eco-delegates who explained their role within our community. Each one of them had a chance to present the project they wanted to accomplish and received advice and encouragement from Nicolas!
