Dear FAA Community,
This month, we celebrate the excellence of our three campuses as we achieved the milestone of our third re-accreditation. We can be proud of this community achievement! Feel free to read more about this process and the recognition it entails in our blog.
This month, we can also celebrate our community's generous and empathetic spirit. Our students ran the "Foulees Olympiques" for many reasons, one being to support the Georgie Badiel Foundation, which works to bring clean water to villages of Burkina Faso. Our campuses raised a total of $19,234!! This is fantastic! Thank you so much to everyone. The funds raised will allow the construction of 3 to 4 wells, leading to empowerment and better education for women and children.
It is now time to enjoy time with our families during the holidays. I wish you a joyous and peaceful break.
With gratitude,
Anne-Sophie Gueguen
Founder and Head of School

A Fun Outing to the Jersey City Nutcracker Show
|
On December 15th, our Kindergarten students walked to Nimbus Dance Works to attend a performance of “Jersey City Nutcracker.” This reimagining of the classic ballet features professional dancers, and the cast is augmented by local dancers from high school and middle school. The children enjoyed the music and dancing and appreciated the animated backgrounds. A
few might just be inspired to become dancers themselves. We are happy to have such a delightful venue just down the road!

Dentist Visit
|
On December 6 and 7, Our pre-K, first, and second-grade students received a visit from a dentist in their classrooms. The dentist explained the different teeth' names and why they are essential, and even mentioned some common dental problems such as cavities. The presentation ended with a tooth-brushing demonstration, and each student had fun practicing with the dentist their brushing skills during the workshop. Englewood campus is due for a dentist visit in February.
Talking about a healthy lifestyle and good dental hygiene is part of the school's role!

Winter Shows
|
|
|
|
|
Last Friday, our students’ voices filled the air with
happiness and emotion during the Winter Shows. Singing enlivens our school spirit, the smiles of all students from PK to 5th grade on stage were heartwarming.
The practice of singing in a chorus contributes to childhood development in multiple ways. Vocal practice embodies a strong link between mind and body:
the body in its relationship to breathing, vocality, and movement
the mind through listening to oneself and to others, as well as in exploring the relationship between text and meaning.
The multiple benefits of choral singing can be seen on an artistic, educational and social level.
The school chorus allows students to participate in group projects, public performances, concerts, and shows. Students practice regularly throughout the year, and this shared effort teaches them discipline as well as cooperation.
Thank you to our music teachers, Josephine Ancelle and Michael Browne, who brought joy to all of us during this holiday season.

The Power of Energizer
|
What are Energizers in a Responsive Classroom?
Contrary to recess, which allows free play, Energizers are structured and intentional. Teachers use them to strengthen social bonds, reestablish focus, enhance receptivity, and allow students to release excess energy.

Middle Schoolers Created Energy
|
Our 7th-grade students took on the role of being engineers in their science class, and as a team, they built a windmill that produced 22 volts of energy. With the teacher's support, students used their problem-solving skills and science knowledge and researched ideas to figure out how to build the windmill. The windmill project is part of our project-based learning pedagogy of educating the whole student.
Read our blog to learn more about the windmill project and our project-based learning pedagogy.

Middle School students decided to turn the Secret Santa gift exchange into an eco-friendly event. Instead of purchasing a gift, students used their creativity to prepare a meaningful homemade gift. On the last day of school before the December break, students organized a "Secret Snowflake" event where they exchanged gifts. All students exchanged their homemade gifts with excitement, and when it was time to receive their presents, students were surprised to unveil the unique gift each student had made.
