Head of School's Message

Dear FAA Community,

January is traditionally the month dedicated to report cards!
These comprehensive reports offer a snapshot of your child's progress thus far in the academic year. I encourage you to peruse our blog article on effective ways to discuss your child's grades.

While report cards are a valuable gauge of academic performance, it's crucial to remember that they're just one facet of your child's achievements. Beyond grades, we aim to cultivate qualities such as perseverance, grit, empathy, curiosity, and critical thinking – essential building blocks in today's fast-paced world. In an era where information is readily available at our fingertips, these soft skills play an increasingly vital role in laying a robust foundation.

Furthermore, we want to promote a growth mindset and praise their efforts rather than just the outcome. During successful times, we analyze the process and the strategies that proved effective, and in moments of setbacks, we engage in conversations about the valuable lessons learned. You’ll find additional insights and advice in this month's blog “Fostering autonomy at all ages”.

Thank you for partnering with us on this educational journey. Your involvement and support make a significant impact on your child's growth and success.

Warm regards,

Anne-Sophie Gueguen

Celebrating Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. - A Day of Activities and Reflection on DEIB Values

We hosted our annual Community Day to celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and reflect on the values of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging. The day was filled with collaborative activities that allowed students and parents to openly discuss our differences in various areas such as physical ability, learning ability, gender, race, and socio-economic status. We hope this day left everyone inspired to continue living up to the values of DEIB and Dr. King.

Middle School Students Visit the Seniors at PACO Senior Center

During the Community Day, middle schoolers discussed and debated various DEIB Topics and visited the PACO Senior Center. They engaged in different activities with the seniors while practicing and conversing with them in Spanish. The visit was a meaningful opportunity for the two generations to connect, promote compassion, and better understand each other's differences.

Students Make a Positive Impact with Food Drive

Students from Englewood collected food on Community Day to donate to those in need. Our eco-delegates delivered the donations to the food pantry and even had a productive discussion with the person responsible for managing the pantry. We are proud of our student's efforts to make a positive impact in our community.
