Raising awareness and taking actions toward sustainable development is crucial in our daily life, whether it is for the long-term health and well-being of the planet and its inhabitants or to create a more equitable society.
This month, we had our first Sustainable Development Committee meeting which united parents, students and teachers. Furthermore, the eco-delegates have finalized a slideshow by selecting photographs taken in our community, illustrating our commitment to the 17 SD Goals. Flip through the pages to
understand the impact everyone can have or click on our website to discover all additional actions.
Tomorrow we’ll celebrate Earth Day which is an invitation to think creatively about solutions to environmental and social challenges, and an encouragement to work together to achieve common goals. It is time for action!
With gratitude, Anne-Sophie Gueguen
Lower School
Spring Parents' Breakfast
This spring, classes throughout our school are thrilled to invite parents to join us for the annual parents’ breakfast. This tradition is a lovely way for students to share their work and for families to witness firsthand the magic of the bilingual projects we execute in our classrooms. Many groups base their bilingual projects on books they have read for the Prix Albertine, but classes can also present on math, science, art, or cross-curricular subjects. Exploring & Learning Beyond Classroom: Overnight Field Trips
Overnight field trips are our cherished tradition at the FAA, and we are thrilled to have lower school trips back after a long pause due to the
pandemic. Field trips form an integral part of our curriculum and promote the holistic development of our students.
5-Day Boston: 4th and 5th Grade
Our 4th and 5th-grade students recently embarked on a 5-day overnight field trip to Boston. During the trip, they visited historical sites and architecture, learned about scientific discoveries and contributions, and had the chance to explore the city's rich history. They also discovered the French influence in the city and learned about the American Revolution, including France's involvement in the American Revolution.
3-Day Catskills, NY: 2nd and 3rd Grade
Our 2nd and 3rd-grade students also went on a 3-day overnight field trip to Frost Valley in the Catskills, New York. They participated in team-building games, a wildlife ecology hike, orienteering, and a campfire, among other activities. The field trip was educational, strengthened students friendships, and provided them with social-emotional learning.
Middle School
Exploring America's Roots on a 5-Day Adventure to Philly and Washington D.C. !
Middle school students always look forward to the annual overnight school trip, and this year, they were off to explore the historical cities of Philadelphia and Washington, D.C. for 5 days.
While the trip was educational and related to classroom lessons, it also offered a fun and engaging way to learn and grow. There were plenty of things to do and see, from historic sites such as Independence Hall and the U.S Capital to museums and memorial sites. Students gained a deeper appreciation of history, culture, civic engagement, and service, and most importantly, they formed close bonds with their classmates
that will stay with them for a lifetime.
Visit From the United Nations Communications Officer
This week, our school had the privilege of welcoming Melanie Prud’homme, Communication Officer at the United Nations. Having worked on the UN goals since their creation in 2015, Ms.
Prud’homme wholeheartedly congratulated our 4th and 5th graders for all of their hard work on sustainability. She was much impressed by their knowledge, dedication and commitment.
During her talk, she explained the overall mission of the UN, shared stories about the
genesis of the goals, and recalled the day they were voted into existence. Given that the goals are universal and interconnected, it is crucial to comprehend their significance and take active and urgent measures to implement them. Our students' questions reflected their maturity, thoughtfulness, and, most significantly, their hope for a better future.
Melanie’s visit prepared our students for the next step: a guided tour of the UN Headquarters in NYC on May 12th!

This month's blog has 6 great tips for fostering autonomy in young children.
And there are still a few available spots for
